Sunny, cheerful classrooms...a large outdoor play area... experienced and caring teachers...and a special program involving parents make Memorial Nursery an extension of your family and a comfortable setting for your child's social and intellectual growth.
Memorial Nursery school is a cooperative nursery located at 16 Lakeshore Dr. on the 3rd floor of Memorial Church. For over 50 years, we've helped 3 and 4 year olds make an easy transition from the security of home to the unfamiliar world of elementary school. Our goal is to develop the whole child in regard to his physical, emotional, social, creative and cognitive self. More importantly, the atmosphere of Memorial is a learning experience within a climate of caring. We become the bridge between home and school.
Play is children's work. Children learn best when they are having fun. Memorial's program fosters competency by offering play-based activities geared to support free expression and stimulate learning. Our facility
includes two spacious and bright classrooms. The Quiet room is where readiness activities, crafts, science experiments, etc. are done. The Active room is where gross motor activities take place. A large, fenced lakeside playground is available for outdoor play.
Finally, we feel that parents are the most important influence in the development of children. By assisting in the classroom approximately once each month, parents have a unique opportunity to observe the children's progress and share the excitement as they make new friends and learn to handle new situations.
